FAQs

Most healthy individuals aged 18 to 65 can donate blood. Specific eligibility criteria may vary based on local regulations, but generally, you should weigh at least 110 pounds and be free of certain medical conditions. Always consult with our staff if you have any questions about your eligibility.

You can donate whole blood every 56 days (about every 8 weeks). For platelet donations, the wait time is typically shorter, around 14 days. It's important to allow your body enough time to replenish its blood supply.

After your donation, you will receive a donor card indicating your blood type and a record of your donation. We also send notifications when your blood is used, so you know the impact of your contribution.

Types of Donation

Not Sure What Types Of Blood Donations You Can Make?

The average human body contains about five liters of blood, which is made of several cellular and non-cellular components such as Red blood cell, Platelet, and Plasma.
Each type of component has its unique properties and can be used for different indications. The donated blood is separated into these components by the blood centre and one donated unit can save upto four lives depending on the number of components separated from your blood.

Red blood Cell

Red Blood Cells, or RBCs, are essential for carrying oxygen from your lungs to the rest of your body and returning carbon dioxide back to your lungs to be exhaled. They are commonly used in treatments for anemia, surgeries, and trauma patients. By donating RBCs, you can help patients regain strength and improve their oxygen levels after severe blood loss or medical conditions.

Plasma

Platelets are small cell fragments that play a critical role in blood clotting. They stop bleeding by forming clots at the site of injury. Platelets are often needed by cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy, people with blood disorders, and those who've experienced severe trauma. Donating platelets can help prevent excessive bleeding and support the recovery of these patients.

Platelet

Plasma is the liquid portion of blood that transports essential nutrients, hormones, and proteins throughout the body. It also helps maintain blood pressure and supports the immune system. Plasma donations are vital for treating burn victims, people with liver diseases, and patients with clotting disorders. Plasma donors help restore critical fluids and boost immunity for those in need.
